Amachi Mentoring is partnering with the Service Network for Children of Inmates. Amachi is seeking caring adult volunteers to serve as mentors to the selected children and youth. Amachi will provide mentors, youth and family caregivers with a high level of orientation training and match support.
The goal for Amachi Mentoring is to assist children and youth to achieve their highest potential by engaging them in long-term transformational mentoring relationship with responsible and empathetic adult. Research shows that children of incarcerated parents are much more likely than other children to become delinquent and to engage in antisocial behaviors. Having a mentor is proven to help break that cycle, with a long-term impact on the life of the youth.
