Artology
Summer Performing Arts Camp offers an introduction
to the performing arts through dance, music, theatre, and
the visual arts. You will learn hands-on how all these disciplines
work together to create a successful performance to be showcased
at the end of camp. Other activities include field trips,
P.E., snack, movies, and reading.
We are partnering
with the Summer Camp program held at Sweet Home Missionary
Baptist Church to offer our first summer of Artology. A team
of artists led by Ms. Michelle Grant Murray will work with
the youth to tell the story "Pharoah, Let my People Go"
through music,
dance, storytelling, and stagecraft. This is the story of
Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt based on the biblical
text found in Exodus. Camp runs June 16th-July 31st, 2008
with the final performance on August 1st, 2008.
The Artology Summer
Performing Arts Camp is funded in part by The Children's Trust.
The Trust is a dedicated source of revenue established by
voter referendum to improve the lives of children and families
in Miami-Dade County.
It is also funded
in part with the Support of the Miami-Dade County Department
of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the
Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners.
